From the battlefield to the boardroom…
Such is the story of our very humble beginnings and how Pro Quality Cleaning was started.
After a very successful five-year military career as an Infantry Officer in the Army where he served with the 101st Airborne Division during two combat deployments, Nick Carter left the Army in 2007 and started a cushy job in Corporate America. However, after only a year he wanted more of a challenge and took a commission-based sales position in the building materials industry. He was excited for his first sales job and was determined to succeed, but unfortunately, it was right at the beginning of the housing and economic recession of 2008.
Considering he had a family to support and mortgage to pay, Nick knew he needed to quickly re-think his plan. He was at a cross-roads in his professional life and career.
His parents owned a cleaning business in Virginia and offered him the opportunity to help them as a janitor in their business during the weekends. Despite not having any experience in the cleaning field, he jumped at the opportunity. That was his introduction to the cleaning industry.
He quickly saw the opportunity that existed to start a business in the commercial cleaning industry, and founded Pro Quality Cleaning in 2009, initially serving customers in the South-Central PA area. For two years he ran the business solely by himself, literally learning the business and industry from the ground up. He cleaned office buildings at night and focused on marketing and meeting with potential customers during the day.
His commitment and perseverance paid off, and today Pro Quality Cleaning employees 80 janitorial, office, and supervisory staff at its main office in Mechanicsburg, PA. Additionally, with over $1.7 million in yearly revenue, Pro Quality Cleaning is now in the top 5% of janitorial companies across the country.
